Phlebotomist II Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team at Physicians East. As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for performing blood draws, collecting and processing specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory results.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and arterial punctures with precision and care.
  • Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Enter patient information and test orders into the laboratory information system (LIS) with attention to detail.
  • Verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing and testing.
  • Stock phlebotomy stations with necessary supplies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure smooth laboratory operations and high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager or Director of Clinical and Ancillary Services.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a certified phlebotomy program with at least 5 years of relevant experience in a medical setting.
  • Experience with departmental operating policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, and safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
