About the Role

Ravinia is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Bass Instructor to join our team in the Austin community. As a key member of our music education program, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students in the art of music, while fostering a love of learning and creativity.

Responsibilities
  • Teach bass studio and low string sectionals to elementary and middle school students
  • Assist with full orchestra rehearsals and large ensembles as needed
  • Foster student empowerment and focus on the holistic education of each child
  • Develop creative lesson plans that promote social and musical growth
  • Participate in faculty development sessions to create and implement innovative curriculum and pedagogy
  • Assess student progress on an ongoing basis
Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for El Sistema and its philosophy of social change through music
  • Interest and ability to be a motivational mentor and role model for students, parents, and community
  • Superior interpersonal skills
Requirements
  • Experience working with groups of children, youth orchestras, or in the El Sistema music education model
  • Experience and desire to work with children from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
  • Bachelor's degree in music or 2-3 years related work experience
