Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive a yard jockey from dock to dock to ensure efficient material movement.
  • Pick up and deliver trailers to the specified docking area, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure the forklift is in good working condition.
  • Load and unload freight, taking care to handle materials with care and precision.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, pushing, and pulling as needed.
  • Reach above your head to retrieve items from high shelves, using proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
  • Work on various surfaces, including uneven or slippery areas, with a focus on maintaining balance and stability.
  • Connect and disconnect a yard jockey, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Drive a truck and/or tractor-trailer combination with power steering, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Complete required paperwork and communicate clearly with supervisors and associates, both verbally and in writing.

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years of recent experience as a Yard Jockey Driver in a distribution warehouse setting.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record over the past 2 years.
  • Ability to read and write, with a focus on accurately completing paperwork.
  • Understanding of bills of lading, manifests, and freight bills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
