About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, assisting with the analysis, data management, research, and policy development related to the operations and services of a fire and rescue pharmacy unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with monitoring, assessing, and reporting on departmental business processes, activities, and outcomes.
  • Perform designated segments of projects or programs with well-defined objectives, including activities such as data collection, synthesis of data gathered to support analysis, and documentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Assist with measuring and analyzing indicators of performance, quality, quantity, and efficiency of services.
  • Compile and provide business information to management.
  • Maintain index or log of standard forms for gathering information from a variety of audiences.
  • Format data sets and perform qualitative and descriptive statistical analysis to aggregate and assimilate data for displaying potential patterns and trends.
  • Assist in implementing business improvements, such as changes to policies, work practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Contribute to position papers, evaluation reports, and presentations.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.
  • Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level.
  • Prior experience working in emergency medicine or directly with EMS agencies.
  • Prior experience working as a pharmacy technician in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
  • Experience managing controlled substances, including regulatory compliance, inventory management, and ensuring proper use within an EMS context.
  • Familiarity with the medications and protocols used in pre-hospital emergency care.
  • Strong clinical knowledge, especially in pharmacotherapy relevant to emergency and critical care settings.
  • Understanding federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmaceutical storage, distribution, and use in emergency settings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with EMS personnel, medical directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams, particularly in high-stress environments such as emergency medicine or public safety.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy information systems, particularly those used in EMS settings.
  • Understanding the logistical aspects of managing pharmaceutical supplies in a fire and rescue department, including inventory control and supply chain management.
  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve complex clinical and operational issues.
  • High level of accuracy in managing medication inventories and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic and sometimes unpredictable environments.
  • Strong commitment to ethical practices and public safety.
  • Familiarity with the mission and operational needs of a fire and rescue department.
