Overview

The role of the BIM Manager involves comprehending and conveying the impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on project workflows, deliverables, and management processes throughout EMCOR Government Services. The key responsibility is to oversee and synchronize the development, implementation, and enforcement of BIM standards across all related projects, files, and models, particularly within the Electrical and Telecommunications divisions. This includes formulating a strategic work plan for the comprehensive integration of BIM within EMCOR projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement BIM workflows while promoting the standardized use of BIM and Revit both internally and externally.
  • Manage the firm-wide application of BIM/Revit software, which includes installation, configuration, maintenance, and user support, as well as troubleshooting user-related issues.
  • Deliver training and support to end-users, fostering leadership in BIM practices.
  • Assist project teams by managing and creating content libraries and templates, establishing and enforcing standards, and evaluating project models.
  • Facilitate project initiation coordination, aiding teams in strategizing for the effective delivery of quality documentation and ensuring proper project setup.
  • Review and produce 2D and 3D electrical schematics for field installations and coordinate with other subcontractor trades.
  • Engage in coordination meetings to address clashes while adhering to budgetary constraints, constructability, and NEC code requirements.
  • Generate shop drawings, cross-sections of underground conduits and cables, and other electrical systems as necessary for fabrication and installation guidance.
  • Interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans, sections, and elevations.
  • Collaborate with the engineer of record and project management to resolve issues and clarify drawings for production or construction teams, making adjustments as needed.
  • Travel to various project sites as required.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical and telecommunications systems for large-scale construction projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and ACC/BIM 360.
  • Capability to produce BIM deliverables, including 3D models, 2D installation/prefabrication drawings, and Total Station point layout files, aligned with VC Standards.
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a professional demeanor to consistently meet tight deadlines while fostering positive working relationships.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate for the BIM/VDC Manager position will have prior experience as a Senior BIM Coordinator or possess relevant experience as an engineer, technical designer, or construction manager.

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in modeling, design, drafting, or engineering is essential.
  • Certification in Revit and/or other Autodesk software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of construction blueprints and specifications is necessary.
  • Proficiency in 3D coordination with other trades is required.
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is essential.

The physical demands of this position must be met by the employee to successfully perform essential functions. Regular activities include sitting for extended periods, standing, and walking. Some duties may be performed under challenging conditions typical of construction sites, including exposure to inclement weather and various environmental factors. Most work occurs in an office setting during standard business hours.
