Position SummaryThe Automotive Service Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality automotive services, including routine maintenance and system flushes. This role requires a professional demeanor and adherence to company policies while interacting with both colleagues and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Perform lube, oil, and filter changes, along with various maintenance services and system flushes.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and address customer inquiries using standardized inspection forms.
- Effectively communicate necessary repairs and maintenance to the Service Advisor or Management.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following each service.
- Assist in shop maintenance tasks as directed.
- During idle periods, engage in tasks such as organizing stock and cleaning the shop floor.
- Safely park and secure all vehicles in designated locations.
- Support lead technicians with repairs and diagnostics.
- Facilitate customer transportation and assist with vehicle delivery and parts procurement as needed.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Strive to minimize the rate of return repairs.
- Complete repairs based on customer authorization and ensure timely vehicle delivery.
- Test drive vehicles post-repair to confirm functionality before returning them to customers.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Possession of necessary hand tools for service tasks.
- Experience in performing minor engine repairs.
- Ability to conduct quality inspections.
- Commitment to maintaining a tidy work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Must obtain at least one ASE certification within the first year of employment.
This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, and stretching. Candidates must possess manual dexterity for tool handling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance. Sufficient vision is necessary for inspecting vehicles for maintenance and repairs.
Work EnvironmentEmployees in this role may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and various weather conditions. There may be occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and electrical risks. Proper safety gear, including eye and ear protection, is mandatory.
The Automotive Service Technician may be assigned additional duties as needed. The company reserves the right to modify this job description based on business requirements.
