**Position Overview:**

We are seeking a **Tax Compliance Specialist** who will be responsible for the preparation of property, sales and use tax returns, along with various other tax-related filings. This role will also involve ensuring accurate accounting practices, reporting, and adherence to tax regulations, including federal, state, and local corporate tax obligations. The selected candidate will handle monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting provisions, as well as research tax-related inquiries and provide written analyses and responses to business unit requests.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Prepare and submit personal property tax returns, manage tax payments, and calculate monthly accruals and annual budgets.
  • Compile sales and use tax returns, assess the taxability of transactions, issue tax exemption certificates, and reconcile liabilities.
  • Develop annual estimates, extensions, and returns for federal, state, and local income and franchise taxes.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reconciliations and fulfill SEC, FERC, and/or MPSC reporting requirements.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual accounting provisions and tax forecasts.
  • Execute necessary journal entries and generate general ledger reports and queries.
  • Respond to inquiries from business units regarding tax information and provide necessary tax requirements.
  • Analyze data from various sources, recommend solutions, and perform internal control duties related to income tax accounting and compliance filings.
  • Conduct annual return-to-accrual reconciliations for stand-alone companies, ensuring accuracy in income statement impacts and accrued amounts.
  • Oversee the annual tax basis balance sheet process for stand-alone entities.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

**Qualifications:**

We encourage candidates with the following qualifications to apply:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • **[OR]** Associate's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field with at least six years of relevant experience.
  • **[OR]** High School Diploma with ten years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in tax compliance, particularly in public accounting or industry, with a strong grasp of income taxes under US GAAP and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of property, sales, and use tax regulations.
