Job Summary
The Power County Hospital District is seeking a reliable and skilled Van/Bus Driver to transport nursing home residents, swing bed patients, and acute care patients to medical appointments and various activities and events in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough vehicle safety checks before and after each use to ensure a safe transportation experience for patients.
- Report any mechanical problems or accidents to the Maintenance Department immediately.
- Load patients/residents, fasten necessary seat belts and wheelchair fasteners/straps to ensure all occupants are properly secured with approved safety restraints prior to transport.
- Ensure regular maintenance and oil changes are performed to maintain vehicle reliability.
Requirements:
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Successful completion of Department of Motor Vehicle license check and insurance coverage through the hospital district prior to driving with patients/residents.
- Understanding of proper vehicle lift operation and wheelchair loading procedures.
- Dependability, personability, and courtesy when interacting with patients and hospital staff.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written directions.
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time, as-needed position requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet the transportation needs of the hospital district.
