Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist - Weekend Option will treat speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages with varying acuity levels. This position is used primarily to supplement weekend staffing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develop treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluate and modify treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognize and communicate when the patient has received optimal benefit from speech therapy.
  • Ensure accurate billing.
  • Adhere to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training: Masters degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program. Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) may apply.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence or active engagement in Clinical Fellowship Year requirements. Maintain current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Florida. Provisional license is acceptable. Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.
  • Experience: None.
