Job Overview
  • This 20-week assignment requires working 36 hours per week, with a 12-hour night shift schedule.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring patient comfort and safety during diagnostic imaging procedures.

A key aspect of this role is operating computed tomography (CT) scanners to obtain high-quality images of patients' bodies, which are then used by physicians to diagnose various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patient Preparation and Communication:
    • Greet patients, explain the procedure, and address any questions or concerns they may have.
    • Verify patient information, including medical history and allergies, to ensure accurate diagnosis and proper imaging protocols.
    • Position patients correctly on the CT table, prioritizing their safety and comfort throughout the process.
  2. Operation of CT Equipment:
    • Operate and calibrate the CT scanner, adjusting settings as needed for each scan.
    • Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician guidance to enhance image clarity.
    • Monitor equipment performance during imaging to ensure high-quality results and minimal errors.
  3. Image Quality and Review:
    • Review CT images for quality, verifying that all required areas are captured and meeting diagnostic standards.
    • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure images meet diagnostic requirements.
    • Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality or comprehensive coverage.
  4. Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Minimize radiation exposure using the lowest dose possible while maintaining effective imaging.
    • Maintain a sterile environment in the CT room, sanitizing equipment between patients.
    • Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort, particularly for vulnerable patients.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with healthcare professionals to determine appropriate imaging procedures and assist in diagnosing medical conditions.
    • Document patient information, scan parameters, and any complications in the electronic health record.
  6. Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting on CT equipment.
    • Alert maintenance staff to malfunctioning or unsafe equipment.
  7. Radiation Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff, adhering to dosage guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, safety standards, and Joint Commission guidelines.
  8. Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Accurately document imaging procedures, patient information, and adverse events.
    • Comply with hospital policies, medical record-keeping regulations, and industry standards.
  9. Patient Education and Support:
    • Provide education on aftercare, potential side effects, and follow-up procedures for patients.
    • Address patient concerns regarding radiation exposure or claustrophobia, offering support when needed.
  10. Professional Development and Training:
    • Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT imaging technology and safety procedures.
    • Attend in-house training sessions and seminars on new techniques or equipment.
