Role Summary:

The Analytics Engineer plays a vital role within City Harvest's Business Intelligence team, spearheading the development of datasets that support our enterprise reporting requirements. This position involves close collaboration with team members responsible for managing inventory, truck routing, CRM, and other operational domains, as well as analysts across the organization who require access to well-structured data for effective reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate data from various business applications, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Dynamics GP, to create comprehensive views of business activities for reporting purposes.
  • Assess open-source and third-party datasets that can enhance our first-party data.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of data available for analysts.
  • Establish structure around unstructured data, such as client surveys and feedback forms.
  • Identify opportunities for performance optimization in data storage and user access.
  • Develop reports and visualizations using Power BI or Excel to showcase new data capabilities.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of reference documentation for key reporting datasets.
  • Provide training and support regarding datasets for City Harvest analysts embedded within our Business Intelligence and operational teams.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in building datasets to support enterprise reporting needs (data warehouse, data mart, Microsoft Dataverse, etc.).
  • Proficiency in crafting queries for MS SQL Server databases.
  • Expertise in creating datasets (semantic models) in Power BI.
  • Strong skills in data modeling for high-scale reporting requirements.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve data discrepancies across various sources.
  • This position requires onsite work at least three days per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A college degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience working with open-source datasets, including the American Community Survey (ACS).
  • Knowledge of geographical or map-based reporting needs.
