Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our platform team at Anvilogic. As a successful, venture-funded startup, we're re-imagining the Security Operation Center (SOC) to empower network defenders to rapidly respond to escalating cyber attacks. Our passionate and rapidly growing customer base demands innovative solutions, and we need staff engineers to lead us through the next phase of our growth journey.

As a Staff Engineer on our Anvilogic platform team, you'll be a key contributor to building the back-end of our detection automation platform, attack detection analytics, and machine learning operations using the most effective big data solutions. Your contributions will help Anvilogic customers accelerate the detection and investigation of network breaches and hunt down intruders already inside their enterprise networks.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate services hosted in AWS.
  • Collaborate with our Detection Automation, Data Science, and Attack Detection teams to build application and data services and data pipelines that meet customer needs.
  • Design, code, and test application and data services and data pipelines.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Represent your team in architectural meetings with peer engineering groups.
  • Own projects from product requirements through design and into implementation.
  • Familiarize yourself with the challenges of architecting at scale and map architecture vision into strategic initiatives.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7 years of software development experience.
  • You have built customer-facing software for a SaaS business.
  • You enjoy digging in, prototyping, building, testing, and seeing projects through to production.
  • You have built distributed systems and know what it takes to architect, deploy, and maintain such systems.
  • You're proficient in Java and familiar with Scala/Python.
  • You're familiar with distributed data stores like HBase, Bigtable, and Se, as well as relational databases like PostgresSQL and MySQL, and big data pipelines like Kafka and Kinesis.
  • Knowledge of Data Lakes (Snowflake, Databricks) and AWS services is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with Spark, Snowflake SQL, or Azure KQL is a plus.
  • You can balance shipping new products and features with addressing technical debt and investments in architecture and infrastructure.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher and 5+ years of professional experience as a back-end developer/engineer.
