About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Tennessee Cancer Specialists. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting blood and other medical specimens from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Processing and handling specimens in accordance with quality and safety procedures.
- Communicating effectively with patients, coworkers, and third-party laboratories to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and lab management systems to navigate and adapt to the workflow of this position.
- Maintaining accurate records and inventory while adhering to OSHA compliance laws and Universal Precaution procedures.
Requirements:
- A certificate from an accredited school of phlebotomy is highly preferred, but a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Entry-level phlebotomists should have around 0-3 years of experience, while senior-level phlebotomists will have 5 or more years of experience.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this job require full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and the ability to sit/stand for extensive periods. Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 40 lbs may be required.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly exposed to direct contact with patients and potential exposure to blood/body fluids, chemotherapeutic agents, or transmittable infections. Direct contact with corrosive chemicals, infectious agents, handling glassware, and needles may also occur.
