Paramedic - Shamokin

We are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support services to patients in need.

• Respond to emergency calls within a defined geographic area to provide medical assistance to patients.
• Perform patient assessments and obtain historical data to inform treatment decisions.
• Communicate with medical commanders and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Effect patient care within the scope of practice and in accordance with regional protocols.
• Assume control position at scenes of patient encounters and provide direction to primary response personnel.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment surveys to ensure preparedness for response.
• Participate in maintaining equipment and vehicle readiness.
• Complete written reports to detail outcomes of patient encounters.
• Participate in the orientation of new personnel and provide preceptorships as assigned.
• Share in housekeeping duties with other crew members.
• Assume responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse events.
• Know and follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties.
• Participate in required patient safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational patient safety.
• Promptly report serious events and incidents in accordance with established hospital policy and procedure.
• Coordinate with local Fire and Rescue personnel in conducting joint Fire and Emergency Medicine Services operations.

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
• Certification(s) and License(s): Basic Life Support Certification, Certified Paramedic, Valid Driver's License.
