Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian Care Specialist to join our team at Petco. As a key member of our veterinary hospital staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, collaborating with colleagues to drive outstanding results, and embodying our core values of compassion, excellence, and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care through physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, as well as preventive care.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, including diagnostic tests and treatments based on interpretation of test results.
  • Document all patient observations, findings, treatments, and diagnoses in a clear and concise manner.
  • Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory surgeries, and dental procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective treatment plans, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of patient care.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located.
  • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License (if applicable).
  • USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as compassion and empathy when interacting with clients and patients.
Benefits

Petco offers a competitive salary range of $95,600 - $203,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
