Job Summary: The Analytical Chemist plays a crucial role in performing chemical evaluations and ensuring compliance with established standards. This position is governed by state and federal regulations and adheres to the standards set by the Association of Analytical Chemists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts detailed quantitative and qualitative chemical assessments.
  • Oversees laboratory technicians in the operation of laboratory instruments and preparation for tests.
  • Prepares standard solutions and reagents necessary for chemical evaluations.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment, ensuring proper cleaning and functionality.
  • Performs quality control audits of laboratories to ensure adherence to testing protocols.
  • Reviews laboratory records for compliance with regulatory standards.
  • May provide expert testimony in legal settings regarding analytical findings.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions: This role requires frequent exposure to hazardous substances and materials.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a chemistry laboratory or a similar environment.
  • Additional qualifications may be considered upon review.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of chemistry principles and laboratory practices.
  • Proficient in using standard and specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to operate various instrument software and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Skilled in documenting analytical results and providing expert testimony.
