Medical Screener

**Job Description Summary**

As a Medical Screener at CSL Plasma, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of our donors. Your primary responsibility will be to greet donors, conduct registration procedures, and verify their suitability for the plasma pheresis process.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing their self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature.

2. Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, including explaining the screening process, health screening tests, appointment system, donation fees, and center policies.

3. Register applicants and transfer donors based on completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.

4. Answer telephone calls and respond to donor inquiries or transfer calls to appropriate staff members.

5. Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction by a donor during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.

6. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.

7. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.

8. Promote safety in all actions and maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.

**Requirements**

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment. Must be able to perform basic math calculations and understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.

**Working Conditions**

Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and to blood-borne pathogens. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
