Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing personalized medical care and assistance with daily living activities to patients in their homes or facilities. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will work closely with our patients to improve their quality of life, while adhering to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, assist, evaluate, and document medical care, including basic first aid, taking vital signs, catheter and bowel care, range of motion exercises, and ambulation.
  • Prepare meals according to dietary and nutritional needs.
  • Care for patients with special conditions and needs within the scope of authorized tasks.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, such as bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing.
  • Complete and coordinate all required documentation, including patient and family records.
  • Observe and report significant changes in patient condition to the Nursing Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Current, unrestricted certification or proof of training as required by the state.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with aide care and policies and procedures.
  • Valid Driver's License and Acceptable MVR.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity.
  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.

Environment:

  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments, which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
