Summary:

Levindale is a comprehensive healthcare facility with 330 licensed beds, dedicated to providing a full spectrum of post-acute services aimed at helping patients recover their functionality and well-being following significant health challenges. Unit Overview:

The Brain Health Unit (BHU) is a specialized section within Levindale, consisting of two units with a total capacity of 60 beds. This unit is specifically designed to create a secure environment for elderly patients experiencing neurocognitive disorders alongside other medical conditions. Nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to engage, support, and treat patients effectively. The average length of stay is between 20 to 25 days, allowing the team to assess, implement medication management, and develop a sustainable care plan that enhances the quality of life. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:8-10 for registered nurses and 1:10 for geriatric nursing assistants, with each unit supervised by a charge nurse managing a lighter load of 4 patients.

Job Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse provides safe, age-appropriate care and serves as a resource for patients and their families as part of the patient care team. Responsibilities include conducting and documenting initial and ongoing assessments, gathering relevant data regarding individual patient and family needs, developing and documenting care plans, implementing and providing education based on the care plan, and evaluating the outcomes of nursing interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Formal education equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college); specialized knowledge required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed RN
  • Current American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification
  • Active Maryland Registered Nurse License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer skills, and medical terminology
  • Strong nursing process skills in accordance with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act, critical thinking abilities, and familiarity with medical equipment
