Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is in search of a skilled Senior Software Engineer to contribute to a significant contract supporting a new initiative.

The successful candidate will possess expertise in DevOps methodologies, proficiency in a Linux operating system, and experience with databases including MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL. Additionally, familiarity with programming languages such as Python and Java is essential for the automation, monitoring, and optimization of software and servers related to geophysical applications.

The selected individual will report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and strategies for resolution.

Essential Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • 6-8 years of experience in programming/scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, JSON, YAML) and Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency with Docker/Containers and Ansible for configuration management.
  • A strong foundation in mathematics, physics, or geophysics is crucial due to the nature of the applications.
  • Experience with relational databases: MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with source code management tools such as GitLab.
  • Willingness to learn new programming languages as required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Python and Java sufficient to read, comprehend, and enhance existing codebases.
  • Familiarity with development environments such as Visual Studio or Eclipse.
