Job Summary

VDart Inc is seeking a highly skilled Datacenter Technician to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks and cable systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and terminate fiber optic cables, including LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks using OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO equipment.
  • Splice fiber optic cables using mechanical and fusion splicing techniques.
  • Install and terminate cable systems, including horizontal and riser cables.
  • Perform continuity testing and troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cables.
  • Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode and single-mode fiber.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficient in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems.
  • Experience with testing and troubleshooting MMF and SMF systems using OTDR and PMLS equipment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance.
  • Industry certifications (Corning/FOA/BICSI) preferred.
  • Data Center installation experience preferred.
  • Mechanical and fusion splice experience preferred.
  • OSP/Confined Space Entry experience preferred.
  • Ability to use trade tools, including screwdrivers, torpedo levels, tape measures, snips, pliers, hammers, wrench sets, cable strippers, flashlights, and gloves.
