Role Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play an essential role in the nation's food supply chain.

Our delivery operators ensure that products reach customers on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and fostering lasting relationships with clients. The driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products safely and promptly, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.


Main Responsibilities:
• Engage and communicate with customers, vendors, and colleagues professionally, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.

• Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.

• Conduct all necessary safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of the vehicle and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensure that all equipment meets company safety standards and take appropriate actions as necessary.

• Report any safety concerns or required repairs.
• Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies.
• Promptly report all safety hazards. Inspect the trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
• Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
• Accurately complete all required paperwork associated with freight in a legible manner.
• Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined delivery schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas.
• Conduct damage control checks on items, scan, and inform the supervisor about removing orders as per company policy.
• Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
• Collect payments (cash or checks) where applicable. Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
• Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always locked and secured.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork.
• Maintain a daily record of service hours and log them according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in the vehicle, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean as required.
• At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary documentation.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
• 12 months of commercial driving experience
• Valid CDL-A license
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
• Successfully complete a road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure a new one
• Capable of hand-lifting and using equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; products generally range from 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on the location.
