Job Description:

Job Summary:

DLZ Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Construction Inspector/Observer to join our team in Michigan. As a Construction Inspector/Observer, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Field Inspection and Testing: Perform all phases of field assignment, including interpreting specifications and working drawings, and conveying intent to contractors.
• Project Coordination: Responsible for all aspects of field inspection, testing, testing coordination, sampling, equipment, and equipment maintenance on assigned projects.
• Documentation and Reporting: Obtain and record field data, in a legible and organized fashion, as required by plans, specifications, or project staff. Generate and compile field reports.
• Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain vehicles and equipment as required.
• Communication and Collaboration: Work with project staff on design changes, communicate with all entities, and keep everyone fully informed.
• Quantity Tracking: Record daily installed construction quantities to review payment requests in terms of progress and amount completed to date.
• Safety and Compliance: Understand public health and safety requirements and be fully trained in proper safety procedures.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant field, or Associates Degree (in applicable field) plus 2 years related experience, or High School Graduate or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
• Certifications and Training: Certifications and training such as Field Book density, compaction, asphalt, concrete, aggregate, or others.
• MDOT Prequalification: MDOT Construction Inspection Prequalification required.
• Experience: Experience with MDOT or municipal inspection preferred.
• Technical Skills: Ability to use mobile devices for communications and record keeping. Past experience with Project Wise, Field Book a plus.
• Personal Qualities: Must have a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to pass a background investigation and drug testing. Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
