Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of NYS Learning Standards and Common Core by crafting and executing weekly lesson plans that reflect evidence-based methodologies, cater to individual student goals, and enhance the continuity of learning experiences between home and educational settings.
  • Establish a well-organized classroom environment that promotes safety and educational challenges, utilizing universal design principles; select and arrange suitable materials while ensuring all equipment is well-maintained.
  • Directly supervise teacher assistants and aides to guarantee that all students benefit from appropriate and successful learning opportunities; leverage their unique skills to foster positive instructional programs; delegate responsibilities to meet the daily health and management needs of children; assign tasks based on certification to ensure effective implementation of daily schedules.
  • Collaborate with the classroom team to develop lesson plans rooted in effective child development practices and employ current evidence-based strategies to monitor progress and ensure favorable student outcomes.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are effectively executed by team members under your supervision.
  • Utilize the resources of supervisory and administrative staff to address staff and family concerns, share insights, and propose recommendations for policy enhancements that would elevate the quality of services provided to students and families.
  • Employ professional judgment to produce accurate and timely evaluations, quarterly progress reports, and draft IEP/IFSP documents in compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by interviewing candidates and making informed recommendations on hiring; conduct annual performance evaluations for teacher assistants and aides; utilize independent judgment to prepare written reports that may influence promotion or disciplinary actions.
  • Exhibit the ability to present information, both written and verbal, at staff meetings, school district gatherings, and other forums in a professional manner that effectively communicates the needs and strengths of each child.
  • Actively engage in the development and implementation of an individual and school-wide Professional Development Plan that fosters personal growth, informs teaching practices, and enhances understanding of NYS Teaching Standards.
  • Perform additional tasks to support the operational needs of the school as assigned by Administration.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education.
  • New York State Provisional or Permanent Certification in Special Education.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience with special needs children in an early childhood or special education environment.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Teacher Assistant.

Compensation:

$71,514.60/Yr. to $95,155.78/Yr.

**$5,000 Sign-on Bonus**
