SUMMARY:
The Investment Officer is responsible for overseeing investment risks and ensuring that the investment portfolio is in line with the financial objectives of the organization. This role requires a thorough understanding of diverse investment instruments and market dynamics. As part of the advisory team, the Investment Officer contributes to business development, enhances existing client relationships, and drives organic growth to boost assets under management and fee income. Additionally, this position plays a vital role in the proprietary financial planning process, providing significant expertise in investment management discussions. The officer continuously evaluates client portfolios and market trends to deliver timely and pertinent advice, while assisting Advisors in adhering to established service standards. Exceptional client service and support are paramount, addressing any concerns or inquiries with professionalism and promptness. Flexibility and adaptability are essential to align with the team’s shared values and objectives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in the investment or banking sector, with a preference for investment management experience.
- Solid understanding of financial markets, investment products, and tax strategies.
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships and manage client portfolios effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the capability to simplify complex financial concepts into actionable recommendations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering trust and rapport with clients.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality, client-focused service.
- Strong decision-making and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with portfolio management software (e.g., Value Line, Morningstar).
- Professional certifications (e.g., AFIM, CFP, CFA) are advantageous and may be required post-hire.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint or other industry-standard software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Formulate and execute a comprehensive investment strategy that aligns with organizational policies.
- Analyze and provide insights on investment strategies for individual portfolios, considering clients' risk tolerance, time horizon, cash flow needs, and tax implications.
- Oversee the management of all investment portfolios, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate and select investment opportunities across various asset classes.
- Monitor portfolio performance, conducting regular reviews and rebalancing as needed.
- Identify and manage investment risks, ensuring compliance with the organization's risk management framework.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks while maximizing returns.
- Prepare comprehensive investment reports and presentations.
- Ensure all investment activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Remain informed about industry trends, emerging markets, and new investment opportunities.
- Continuously seek to enhance investment processes and strategies through innovation and best practices.
