These engaging sessions are favored by educators and students alike, allowing learners to immerse themselves in their history curriculum by embodying historical figures or becoming the "experts." A talented presenter leads students through historical narratives while facilitating a friendly competition, enabling students to earn points and strive for victory. With over 35 years of dedication to educational excellence, California Weekly Explorer is synonymous with making learning enjoyable.

Benefits of Being an Educational Engagement Specialist:
  • Competitive salary of $4,200/month (post-training completion). Initial training compensation of $140/day for the first 12 days.

  • Most weeks include at least one half-day (approximately 30% of a presenter's schedule consists of half days, compensated at the salary rate).

  • Daily affirmation from clients, allowing you to shine as the "star" each day.
Key Responsibilities:

California Weekly Explorer is in search of a full-time Educational Engagement Specialist who will bring history to life for students every day. This individual should have a passion for working with children, enthusiasm for education, a love for travel and new experiences, and a commitment to positively impacting the lives of students and educators.
  • Complete rigorous training, including memorizing and dynamically presenting three scripts in an engaging manner; capable of delivering up to two presentations daily, each lasting 2.5 hours, with constant interaction with students (class sizes up to 36).
  • Present and teach solo, which includes transporting and setting up/tearing down presentation equipment daily (this is a one-person operation).
  • Travel to various schools each day, starting early.
  • Attend five staff meetings throughout the season, requiring travel to the Southern California office (travel expenses will be reimbursed).
  • Make 3-5 trips outside your calendar area during the school year (varies by calendar).
  • Store all necessary presentation equipment securely at home (must have a safe environment for storage).
  • Utilize the online company calendar system for school information and daily schedules.
  • Handle travel arrangements and preparations independently.
  • Complete reports, including monthly expense reports and evaluations of schools.
Training Overview:
  • The initial training for the first presentation spans 12-13 consecutive business days, followed by an additional 5 consecutive business days for the second presentation 2-4 weeks later, and the final 5 consecutive business days for the third presentation 2-4 weeks thereafter.
  • All training occurs at our Southern California office, with food stipends and lodging provided by the company, including weekends when necessary.

  • Willingness to commit to a structured 5-day work week with a strong work ethic.
  • Prioritize personal health to meet the demands of the role, as substitutes are not available.
  • Have a reliable standard-sized vehicle to transport equipment.
  • Secure living space with adequate storage for equipment.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Pass a DOJ background check.
