Job Overview

Actalent is seeking a highly skilled Lab Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production area, you will be responsible for operating, preparing, and controlling seed and production fermenters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain seed and production fermenters to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manually manipulate valves on fermenters to achieve desired results.
  • Perform sterilization checks and clean and sanitize fermenters to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Monitor levels on all fermenters to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues.
  • Apply basic microbiology techniques, including aseptic technique, to handle and process bacterial cultures.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, pumps, and scales to conduct experiments and analyze results.
  • Prepare media and clean glassware to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Complete downstream processing of bacterial cultures to ensure high-quality results.
  • Take a lead role in the production area, mentoring and training employees on responsibilities, technical abilities, and overall development in the lab.
  • Communicate with the supervisor on production progress and monitor daily activity in the department.
