The University at Albany, a renowned institution for education and research, is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor in Cybersecurity. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the growth of our esteemed Cybersecurity Department.
About the Position
We are looking for highly qualified individuals with expertise in Cybersecurity to join our faculty. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in live and online environments. Your responsibilities will also include advising and mentoring students, engaging with the UAlbany community, and contributing to administrative tasks within the department.
Requirements
- A PhD or terminal degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 8/31/2025.
- Demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
- Applicants for Assistant Professor must demonstrate their experience or potential in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in cybersecurity, in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/or hybrid) and address their plan to contribute to the Cybersecurity curriculum.
- Applicants for Associate Professor must demonstrate their experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in cybersecurity, in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/or hybrid) and address their plan to contribute to the Cybersecurity curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications
- A clear plan for developing a scholarly agenda in Cybersecurity at UAlbany.
- Institutional, regional, national, or international recognized scholar and researcher in Cybersecurity, requisite for an Associate Professor.
- A record of applying for and/or obtaining extramural funding for Assistant Professor level applicants.
- Expertise, experience, and active research in Cyber Defense and/or Cyber Operations, including applications in malware analysis, reverse engineering, SCADA security, and offensive threat modeling.
- Ability to develop classes in existing and emerging subfields of cybersecurity, AI, machine learning, and related fields.
Additional Information
Pursuant to Executive Order 161, no State entity is permitted to ask, or mandate, in any form, that an applicant for employment provide his or her current compensation, or any prior compensation history, until such time as the applicant is extended a conditional offer of employment with compensation.
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
