Job Summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team. As a Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support care to patients in emergency situations. You will work independently to assess patients, activate care protocols, and deliver patient care within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in emergency situations, including triage and stabilization.
  • Transport patients via various modes of transportation, providing quality ALS and Critical Care management.
  • Respond to emergency requests within Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt-sponsored events, or other contracted events.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to resolve patient problems and implement solutions.
  • Effectively communicate patient handover to the healthcare team.
Technical Capabilities
  • Ventilator Management: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate ventilator management in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Critical Thinking: Displays clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, and sound evidence in the successful completion of tasks and projects.
  • Airway Establishing: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate airway establishing in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Medication Management: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate Medication Management in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Assessing, Intervening & Stabilizing Patients: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate assessing, intervening, and stabilizing patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Core Accountabilities
  • Independently performs non-routine tasks that significantly impact team and other related teams.
  • Gathers and analyzes data to solve problems that arise with little or no precedent.
  • Applies advanced job knowledge and has developed a breadth of skills in other areas.
Position Qualifications
  • Certifications: LIC-Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic - Licensure-Others, LIC-Tennessee Driver's License - F Endorsement - Tennessee
  • Work Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
