Job Summary

The Lodi Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting, to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Operate floor maintenance machines, vacuum cleaners, and other custodial equipment to ensure efficient and effective cleaning
  • Check and replace supplies and equipment as needed to maintain a well-stocked and functional facility
  • Lock and unlock buildings, gates, windows, and facilities as required to ensure security and access
  • Perform routine groundskeeping duties, including sweeping sidewalks and curbs, and picking up trash and debris from school grounds
  • Assist in moving furniture and equipment during track changes and special events
  • Check assigned areas to prevent vandalism and theft, and report any incidents to the appropriate personnel
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; responsible experience in custodial and general maintenance work highly desirable
  • Ability to learn and apply modern cleaning methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Physical ability to perform heavy physical labor, including bending, lifting, and carrying
Working Conditions

The Custodian will work in an indoor and outdoor environment, with exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes from paints and solvents, and working at heights. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
