Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist II is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures on all patients. Evaluating image quality and utilizing proper radiation safety practices are essential skills for this role. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in radiography and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of main department, interventional radiology, surgery, emergency department, and outpatient surgery.
2. Demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to perform all radiology procedures per protocol and adjusts techniques according to patient needs, i.e., critical or emergency. Consults with providers as needed.
3. Provides practical instruction for students and other healthcare professionals.
4. Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.
5. Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure, including proper image management and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a graduate degree from an accredited radiography program, and be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additionally, the candidate should have American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and a Wisconsin license.
Work Environment
The Radiologic Technologist II will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments. The job may also involve occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The ideal candidate should be able to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
