JOB OVERVIEW
The role of a Baker involves the preparation, baking, and presentation of various baked goods. A key aspect of this position is to foster positive interactions with customers while delivering exceptional service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all bakery items, including managing recipes and ingredient inventory.
  • Read and interpret production schedules and temperature guidelines.
  • Prepare baking mixtures according to established protocols and recipes.
  • Process special requests for bakery items.
  • Organize, date, and rotate products in display cases, storage areas, and refrigeration units.
  • Manage damaged or spoiled items in line with company policy and assist in minimizing waste.
  • Execute opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks as instructed.
  • Adhere to efficiency standards and follow established operational procedures.
  • Comply with all policies designed to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify customers in need of assistance and respond appropriately or involve the right personnel to resolve issues.
  • Address customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism, ensuring proper procedures for refunds, returns, or exchanges are followed.
  • Engage with multiple customers in a courteous manner, staying informed about department promotions and offerings.

  • Understand and adhere to departmental procedures, including equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Follow food safety protocols, such as proper handwashing and product refrigeration.

  • Operate bakery machinery in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Efficiently manage supplies to reduce waste and maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Keep work areas, utensils, and display cases clean and organized.
  • Ensure cleanliness of storage areas, including walls, fans, and equipment.
  • Present a professional appearance and uphold high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Report any incidents of theft, shoplifting, or property damage to management.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of baking methods and techniques.
  • Able to work collaboratively and engage positively with customers.
  • Capable of following verbal instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally required to sit, push, and pull up to 50 lbs., climb heights of up to 6 feet, kneel, and crouch.

  • Frequently required to carry and lift up to 10 lbs., bend, balance, stoop, and reach at waist and overhead levels.

  • Continuously required to stand and walk on tile/concrete surfaces, and utilize manual dexterity for various tasks.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Occasional exposure to loud noises, cluttered surfaces, and contact with skin irritants.

  • Frequent twisting of the back and neck, slippery surfaces, and sharp objects.

  • Continuous interaction with hazardous equipment.
