Job Title: Reliability Engineer - Functional

At Heartland Food Products Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer - Functional to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance organization, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvements to equipment reliability by providing technical support and guidance for reliability processes to the facility.

This role will involve reducing downtime and equipment failure risk levels to the business, as well as improving the understanding of failure detection and analysis within the organization. You will provide expertise and leadership for key equipment assets, ensuring reliability is maintained at the highest levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Reliability Centered Maintenance strategy for the organization and drive best practices related to reliability improvements across the site.
  • Guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.
  • Efficiently implement predictive maintenance techniques, such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, tribology, and infrared thermography.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues.
  • Evaluate production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets and find ways to reduce those losses or high costs through root cause analysis.
  • Improve overall plant reliability through PM effectiveness optimization, corrective work orders, and failure investigations.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations for equipment and material breakdowns and inadequate maintenance procedures.
  • Educate the manufacturing organization on Predictive Maintenance and Root Cause Evaluation techniques and champion their use throughout the business.
  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability related risks that could adversely impact plant operations.
  • Support capital projects by recommending elements for reliability into equipment or layout designs; work with Engineering Team to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations through installation, commissioning, and Operational hand off plans.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Predictive Maintenance tools and techniques; certification in Predictive Maintenance techniques (VI Cat, MLA, Thermographic, etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Failure and Root Cause Analysis (FMEA, DMAIC, Ishikawa, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and clearly explain complicated concepts and processes to varying levels of an organization desired.
  • Be self-directed and motivated with experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrate proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel, Basic AutoCAD, and ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Physical Demands:

Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.

Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend.

Must possess visual acuity to document company records.

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
