Position Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Digital Application Engineering team. This role is based in Huntsville, AL, and requires a multi-disciplinary engineer with a solid foundation in Electrical Engineering, complemented by expertise in Software, Systems, Mechanical, and/or Chemical Engineering.
The ideal candidate will possess the capability to design processes and develop equipment for inkjet printing, leveraging principles from chemistry, physics, mathematics, electronics, software, and related sciences.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing, writing, and testing software programs for printing systems.
- Engaging in project meetings to establish direction and priorities.
- Participating in design reviews for electronic and software systems.
- Enhancing and refining the existing codebase to improve reusability and address bugs.
- Designing electronic hardware for various applications (less frequently).
- Writing firmware to control in-house designed electronic hardware.
- Developing and testing FPGA programs for printhead control in printing systems.
- Assisting in the transition of electronics and software to the manufacturing side for production.
- Creating user documentation to facilitate the operation of software and printing systems.
- Contributing to other inkjet-related engineering projects as required.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A BSEE or MSEE degree.
- Several years of relevant experience.
- A strong background in software development.
- Firmware development experience in C and/or C++.
- Experience in software development within Windows, C#, and .NET environments is advantageous.
- FPGA and VHDL programming experience is a plus.
- Electronics design experience involving microprocessors is desirable.
- PCB design experience is beneficial.
- Proficiency in OrCAD Schematic Capture, Xilinx Vivado, or other FPGA programming tools.
- Embedded C/C++ development experience with ARM tools (Keil) and Visual Studio/.NET C#/C++ test software programming.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, both methodical and creative.
- The capacity to complete design tasks within set timelines.
