POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Parts Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate packaging and labeling of orders. This role involves verifying shipments against documentation, inspecting for any damaged items, and distributing products to the appropriate departments within the facility. The position requires mobility throughout the warehouse, including navigating stairs and various locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are essential to the role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed:
- Receive and verify incoming shipments against work orders provided by the supervisor.
- Count and confirm the quantity of items received to ensure accuracy.
- Designate storage locations for incoming products and manage space allocation within the warehouse, which may involve lifting and moving items.
- Assist in relocating incoming products to their designated storage areas and oversee storage processes.
- Review work orders to identify picking tasks and gather orders according to specified instructions, which may require the use of ladders and manual handling.
- Ensure conformity by matching order details with picked items.
- Operate forklifts to handle heavy boxes and transport them to designated areas.
- Assess the quality and quantity of picked items to ensure safe delivery to the appropriate pallet.
- Support loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring safe stacking and retrieval of items.
- Document any damaged or defective items and follow company procedures for replacements.
- Manage returns and exchanges, adhering to reverse distribution protocols.
- Ensure all shipments are correctly labeled and that necessary documentation accompanies each shipment.
- Select appropriate shipping methods based on knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates.
- Coordinate carrier pickups and compare shipment quantities with orders.
- Maintain shipping records and trace any missing shipments.
- Assemble or select containers for shipping purposes.
- Route products to their respective departments and attach necessary identification and delivery instructions.
- Organize and maintain records of shipped goods.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Possess a clean driving record.
- Have no criminal record.
- Demonstrate basic computer proficiency.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
- Show strong attention to detail.
- Possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Have the ability to be trained on business software systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of a one-year certificate program from a college or technical school, or three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to write basic correspondence and effectively present information.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires:
- Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 130 lbs. occasionally.
- Pushing and pulling forces up to 120 lbs. during the workday.
- Climbing stairs to access warehouse shelving.
- Standing, bending, stretching, and manipulating a computer keyboard.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including varying temperatures. The noise level in the warehouse is typically moderate.
