Job Summary

XL Specialized Trailers is seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist to join our team. As a valued member of our team, this role is responsible for assembling products using hand-held welding and flame-cutting equipment to join metal components following assembly instructions and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Assembly Preparation: Study assembly instructions, blueprints, specifications, and parts lists to gather necessary materials and tools.
  • Component Positioning: Use templates or read measurements to position parts and subassemblies accurately.
  • Assembly and Welding: Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and fastening parts and subassemblies with hand-held welding equipment.
  • Weld Inspection and Correction: Inspect welds for quality and correct any defects by chipping or grinding off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate an overhead crane to move components and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Quality Control: Verify specifications by measuring completed components and conducting a self-inspection.
  • Problem-Solving: Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications and notifying supervisors to obtain additional resources.
  • Maintenance and Documentation: Complete preventive maintenance requirements, follow operating procedures, and document actions by completing production, quality, and time forms.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One year of welding experience.
  • Skills: Proven ability to weld using MIG hand-held welders, basic understanding of shop math, and ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Additional Requirements: Ability to work overtime as required, including Saturdays.
