Position Overview:

The role involves providing comprehensive patient care by assessing medical histories and synthesizing relevant health data. The physician will offer education, consultation, and treatment plans to patients and their families, focusing on the respiratory system.

Key Position Details:

This is a split FTE position, comprising 0.7 in pulmonary (clinic & rounding) and 0.3 in critical care.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care:
    • Deliver comprehensive care to patients with respiratory conditions.
    • Assess, diagnose, and manage pulmonary disease patients.
    • Analyze patient histories and synthesize relevant health information.
    • Coordinate and interpret data to inform patient care decisions.
    • Educate and consult with patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
    • Collaborate with patients to enhance their health outcomes.
    • Practice with consideration for cultural diversity and legal responsibilities.
    • Document patient information electronically in compliance with licensure.
    • Engage in a multidisciplinary approach to case management.
    • Provide care in various settings, including clinics and hospitals.
    • Participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Utilize quality improvement methodologies to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
    • Engage in peer review and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level degree in Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency in Internal Medicine.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease.
  • Active medical license from the MN Board of Medical Practice and certification in Pulmonary Disease.
  • ACLS/BLS certification required within 180 days of hire.
  • NRP certification may be required based on the business unit.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire.
  • Prescription Monitoring Program registration required upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work: Lifting up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently, in accordance with safe patient handling policies.
