Job Overview

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Shipfitter to join our team. As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing ship structures, including hulls, decks, and superstructures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble ship structures, including hulls, decks, and superstructures, using various materials such as steel, aluminum, and fiberglass.
  • Operate and maintain fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine materials and task sequences.
  • Position, align, and fit parts together to form complete units, following blueprints and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to perform tasks such as cutting, bending, forming, punching, drilling, and welding.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other shipyard workers to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in shipbuilding, fabrication, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding materials, processes, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
