We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Nutrition Aide I to join our team at Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties. As a Nutrition Aide I, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of WIC nutritional services, providing exceptional customer service, and working collaboratively with our team to achieve our mission.
Key Responsibilities- Assist WIC Nutrition Assistants with client interactions, including obtaining and recording height and weight measurements, dietary intakes, and other necessary medical and/or nutritional information.
- Compare laboratory test results, anthropometric measures, and/or dietary intakes to establish standards for screening nutrition risk.
- Identify clients with special nutritional needs and refer them to the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist/WIC Nutrition Assistant for nutrition counseling and development of Nutritional Care Plans.
- Provide basic health, nutrition, and breastfeeding information to individual clients and client groups.
- Maintain and update client documentation through WIC WISE.
- Explain program eligibility requirements and clients' rights and responsibilities.
- Provide triage at WIC sites by answering the central telephone line and providing customer service to WIC clients.
- Inform clients about the benefits, services, and family planning options available through the WIC program.
- Instruct clients on prescribed food packages and WIC card benefits and purchasing procedures.
- Evaluate clients' understanding of these processes.
- Conduct monthly group classes and other nutrition education activities as requested by the Center Manager.
- Participate in community outreach efforts as assigned by the Center Manager.
- Attend full staff and in-service training sessions.
- Integrate referrals between WIC and Family Planning, documenting referrals to other social and community services as needed.
- High School diploma or GED completion required.
- Previous experience working with the WIC program highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service or administrative assistant experience.
- Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rigorous environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- High level computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
- This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle, a valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
- This position requires/prefers bilingual skills (reading, writing, and speaking) in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Farsi.
This position requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of productivity in a team-based setting is essential.
