We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead our team of nursing professionals and oversee patient care. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for directing the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Departmental Leadership: Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Operational Management: Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Staffing and Development: Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Financial Management: Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated funding.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Coordinate and direct internal/external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Culture and Engagement: Foster an environment that encourages professional growth, integrates evidence-based practices into operations, and clinical protocols.
- Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree highly preferred; Master's degree (MHA, MSN, MBA, or related field) highly preferred.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in Emergency Department Services; 3 years of experience in a leadership role highly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Licensure: Current Alabama Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license without restrictions.
- Certifications: Handle with Care certification and American Heart Association; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire or transfer; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 90 days of hire or transfer; Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within one year of employment/eligibility; EMTALA & EHAC training in Healthstream upon hire and once each year following.
- Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
