Job Summary

The University of Illinois is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Counselor to provide clinical assessments and counseling services to individuals and couples. This is a part-time, hourly position that requires a minimum of 9 months of commitment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide time-limited counseling services for individuals and couples
  • Conduct initial intakes and assessments
  • Manage clinical crises and triage services
  • Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response
  • Provide group counseling services through a general therapy group or a group that addresses a specific clinical issue or the needs of a particular population of students
Requirements

A Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a Master's in Social Work or Counseling is required. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess appropriate professional licensure in Illinois, such as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Work Environment

The Counseling Center is an energetic and diverse team of nearly 50 staff, including 29 clinicians, 4 pre-doctoral interns, 6 counseling center professional staff, 7 administrative staff, and a team of undergraduate paraprofessionals and master's level practicum counselors. The University of Illinois Counseling Center's mission is to provide culturally competent services to a diverse clientele presenting with a wide range of psychological, educational, social, and developmental concerns.
