This role is essential in providing a nurturing and culturally relevant preschool experience for children aged 3 to 4 years. The program aims to enhance school readiness and support families in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and execution of engaging activities that align with developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Ensure safe and efficient transportation for up to 20 children, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Maintain a well-organized classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
  • Conduct home visits to support families and assess their needs.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and participate in food service, sharing meals with the children.
  • Complete necessary documentation and collaborate with team members to assess family and child needs.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including the Child Development Associates (CDA) program.
  • Drive and maintain a bus route, ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations.
  • Keep the assigned vehicle clean and report any issues to management.
Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in any field, or a High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience in early childhood education.
  • Must obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within two years of hire.
  • Valid Oregon School Bus Drivers Certificate and Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of positive child guidance techniques and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse families and create a supportive learning environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
Additional Requirements
  • Obtain a Food Handler's card within 15 days of hire.
  • Complete First Aid/CPR training within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Screening for tuberculosis is required.

This position is vital to the success of our Head Start Program, ensuring that children receive the support they need for their development and education.
