We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist II to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Administer physical therapy to patients with physical, developmental, and functional disabilities.
- Examine and evaluate patients' physical therapy needs, formulate a physical therapy diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan.
- Delegate caseload to therapist assistants, oversee quality of care, and supervise performance.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure patient coverage and equitable work distribution.
- Meet and exceed department standards for productivity, timely completion of clinical and non-clinical documentation, and attendance.
- Act as a clinical resource for a designated clinical population or functional unit, research clinical protocols, and present results to clinical staff.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers in therapy programs and goals, participate in patient care meetings, and assist with discharge planning.
- Consult with other healthcare team members to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies provided.
- Participate in the implementation of quality assurance programs, including routine chart audits, review of staff documentation, and clinical activities.
- Assist in the implementation of triaging, prioritizing, monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges to and from the service as assigned.
- Develop own clinical knowledge and skills through participation in professional organizations, attending continuing education programs, and seeking advanced certification.
- Participate in special interest groups or committees within the profession, department, or hospital to promote staff education and program development.
- Assist in the proper care and distribution of department supplies and equipment, making recommendations for adequate inventory and appropriate new equipment.
- Volunteer for a minimum of one community service activity per year and may lead divisional activities to support UMMHC community service commitments.
- In the absence of the clinical supervisor, assume duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
- Participate in departmental meetings to formulate policies, procedures, and program development.
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program and current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience and a performance record that consistently exceeds expectations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, and ability to instruct/mentor others.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
