Wellesley, Massachusetts, United States Babson College Full time

The Mathematics, Analytics, Science, and Technology division at Babson College is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer in Natural Sciences, with a focus on biotechnology and sports science.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to high-quality undergraduate education for non-majors, particularly business students, and will actively contribute to the mission of Babson through various service roles on campus.

Applicants should possess an active professional background, which may encompass traditional research within their discipline, the scholarship of teaching and learning, or interdisciplinary work.

Teaching duties will encompass a range of responsibilities, including foundational science courses that integrate multiple disciplines with practical laboratory experiences, as well as advanced elective courses tailored for our Tech Entrepreneurship concentration.

While our science lab research facilities are limited, we highly value collaborative efforts across various disciplines and institutions.

We welcome applications from candidates at all stages of their careers, as appointments at the Associate or Full Professor level may be considered for those with substantial experience.

At Babson, we appreciate the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that our faculty bring to our community, and we strongly encourage individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields to apply for this role.

Candidate Success Factors:
The successful candidate will join a division comprising nineteen full-time faculty members and several part-time instructors.

We seek a colleague who:

  • Is enthusiastic about teaching and innovative curriculum design.
  • Brings significant scholarly or professional expertise that will enrich the intellectual community of the College.
  • Is a collaborative team member, willing to lead and work alongside faculty from various disciplines to co-create and co-deliver courses in an integrated, cross-disciplinary manner.
  • Is committed to enhancing the College's dedication to diversity and inclusion.
  • Holds a Ph.D. (or an equivalent terminal degree) in a natural science discipline with a strong connection to biotechnology.

Application Submission:
Electronic applications are required; paper submissions will not be accepted.

Please include:
(1) a cover letter; (2) a current curriculum vitae; (3) a brief (1-2 page) statement of teaching philosophy, including a short discussion on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom; and (4) a brief (1-2 page) statement outlining current and future plans for an active professional career and necessary support. Candidates who progress in the application process will be asked to provide three reference letters.
