Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The City of Hobbs, NM is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Firefighter to join our team. As a key member of our Fire Department, you will be responsible for protecting life and property by performing firefighting, rescue, emergency medical care, hazardous materials mitigation, fire prevention, and public education duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform firefighting and rescue activities, including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks.
- Provide emergency aid, including administering emergency care and providing other assistance as required.
- Utilize skills, procedures, and medications within the scope of practice as a certified EMT.
- Participate in fire drills, attend classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects.
- Operate radio and other communication equipment.
- Maintain fire and EMS equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
- Perform general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment.
- Assist in developing plans for special assignments, such as emergency preparedness, communications, training programs, firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency aid activities.
- Present programs to the community on safety, medical, and fire prevention topics.
- Initiate and complete written documents related to emergency treatment and work incidents.
- Perform salvage operations, such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, and removing debris.
Requirements:
- Must be certified NREMT or equivalent.
- Must possess Firefighter I & II Certification through IFSAC or Pro Board.
- Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
- Must be able to read and write the English language.
- Must meet Department physical standards.
- Must meet City of Hobbs Fire Department Certification and Licensure policy.
