Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing the operating room for procedures, including setting up sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures.
  • Provide scrub assistance during procedures, demonstrating knowledge of anatomy and surgical principles.
  • Collaborate with the circulating nurse to implement the perioperative plan of care, including patient positioning and operative site preparation.
  • Identify factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (preferred)
  • Required Experience: None
  • Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience preferred
  • Surgical Technologist registration required (must be eligible for registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire)
  • BLS via AHA required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) via NCCT preferred
