Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Float RN may be assigned to multiple units based on operational needs and is expected to maintain competency across all assigned areas. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering direct patient care within the established scope of practice.
  • Guiding and educating patients and their families, as well as overseeing the activities of other nursing staff.
  • Ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards while being directly responsible for the care of assigned patients.
  • Communicating effectively with physicians regarding any changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic results and symptoms.
  • Responding promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or treatment responses.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a current and valid state RN License.
  • Hold a current BLS (ARC/AHA) certification upon hire and maintain it.
  • Obtain ACLS (ARC/AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and keep it current.
  • Acquire PALS (ARC/AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintain it.
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting (preferred).
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Complete Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) training within six months of hire and maintain it annually.
  • Be capable of floating into critical care areas within the scope of practice and competency.
