Job Summary

Luther College seeks a detail-oriented and organized Financial Aid Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of the Financial Aid department, you will be responsible for the coordination, certification, and reconciliation of all PLUS and private student loans. This includes generating daily aid distribution batches and transfers to the Student Accounts Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the PLUS and private loan processing, including initial certification, processing of loan changes, and reconciliation of all private loans.
  • Manage the paper and electronic aid offer process, including printing and quality control of award letters, preparation and mailing of award letter packets, and creation of a new student permanent file.
  • Retrieve and review FAFSA data and distribute to appropriate staff for further review.
  • Reconcile scholarship data with the Admissions Office.
  • Generate weekly financial aid reports for the Vice President of Enrollment.
  • Receive and process outside scholarship checks and funds, and occasional scholarship and tuition billings.
  • Run and review error reports to reconcile data.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of administrative assistant experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple, detail-intensive projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • General knowledge of the financial aid process is helpful.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree with coursework in Microsoft Office Suite, business practices, keyboarding, and office procedures preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is pleasant, smoke-free, air-conditioned in summer, and comfortably warm in winter.
