Position Overview:
Serco is seeking Mechanical Engineering Field Evaluators to assist with the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Public Assistance recovery efforts in various regions.
The Mechanical Engineering Field Evaluators will include both professional and non-professional staff dedicated to supporting state, tribal, and local governments, as well as select private non-profits.
Serco is committed to efficiently aiding FEMA's mission by providing essential support to communities affected by disasters.
This role is dependent on your ability to secure and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance.This position is subject to customer requirements and/or their approval.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of architectural and engineering documentation and as-built plans.
Meticulously document findings in written reports.
Formulate scopes of work, incorporating relevant codes and standards.
Validate scopes of work submitted by applicants, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Prepare and evaluate cost estimates.
Provide technical guidance to FEMA personnel regarding the validity of claims in FEMA's arbitration process. If necessary, serve as an expert witness on behalf of FEMA.
Qualifications:
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and professional registration (PE); OR a Bachelor's Degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
1-2 years of experience in conducting site evaluations for Large Commercial Construction projects.
1-2 years of experience in site evaluations for any of the following types of work: Restoration of Roads, Bridges, Water Control Facilities, Buildings, Equipment, Utilities, Debris Removal, Schools, Churches, Parks, and Recreation Centers.
The ability to obtain and maintain FEMA Public Trust clearance.
U.S. Citizenship.
Capability to complete FEMA-specific training.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness to deploy to various locations with short notice after task order award.
Ability to commit to deployments lasting 6-12 months.
Comfort and experience using mobile technology.
Capacity to work independently, collaboratively, and under pressure with tight deadlines.
Additional Preferred Skills:
A minimum of 2 years of experience with FEMA Public Assistance programs.
Professional Engineer (PE) designation.
Experience supervising Site Evaluators.
Familiarity with FEMA Public Assistance Program/Policy.
Training in the latest Public Assistance delivery model is advantageous.
Active FEMA credentials.
