Job Summary:

As a key member of our kitchen team, you will assist the head cook in preparing food orders for our restaurant, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. Your attention to detail and ability to follow instructions will be essential in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Read and fill written orders, following instructions from the head cook.
  • Prepare menu items prior to and during meal periods, adhering to written food orders.
  • Prepare, slice, and chop meats and other food products, using preparatory utensils such as knives and pans.
  • Communicate with front-of-house staff in a professional manner regarding guest orders.
  • Receive and stock all food items in appropriate storage locations, lifting and carrying products as needed.
  • Maintain food product inventory and notify the head cook of shortages.
  • Follow portion and quality control standards of menu items.
  • Perform end-of-shift duties, including washing fridges, sweeping and mopping floors, filtering deep fryers, and disposing of garbage.
  • Clean work areas according to state health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment by wiping, scrubbing, and polishing as required.
  • Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures, paying special attention to health and safety protocols.
  • Report any problems or discrepancies to the head cook immediately.
Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.

Language Ability:

You must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. You should also be able to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Math Ability:

You will need to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. You should also be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

You must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. You should also be able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Pay rate $17.55-$18.55 Depending on location and experience
